Fluoride Treatments

What are Fluoride Treatments?

Fluoride treatments help to strengthen and protect your teeth from tooth decay. For patients who do not get enough fluoride and for those susceptible to developing cavities, fluoride treatment is beneficial. The procedure is quick, easy and can be done for both adult and pediatric patients. We recommend fluoride treatment on a routine basis to fully protect your smile.

Why are Fluoride Treatments needed?

Fluoride treatments are typically recommended for most pediatric patients. The treatment helps to protect vulnerable baby teeth that are more susceptible to decay. Fluoride treatments are essential for patients who may not get enough fluoridation in their everyday lives through water or dental hygiene products. Because fluoride treatments are quickly done in our office, you can have the treatment administered within minutes.

What makes you a good candidate for Fluoride Treatments?

Most people will benefit from fluoride treatments, since treatment is designed to strengthen and protect teeth. If you feel that you would like fluoride treatment, we recommend coming in for an exam. We can help in determining if fluoride is right for you with a simple exam and consultation. Our goal is to provide you with a healthy, strong smile that is free of dental decay.

What can be expected with Fluoride Treatments?

You will first come in for an exam as well as a consultation to determine if you’d benefit from fluoride treatments. Next, we will brush the fluoride medication onto each surface of your teeth. The fluoride dries and protects the teeth in the process. You will be instructed to not eat or drink for a short period of time after the procedure is done. You may need to have additional fluoride treatments at your next preventative care appointment or on an as-needed basis. We often recommend fluoride treatments to our pediatric patients, as it can help in preventing the need for fillings, root canals and unnecessary extractions.

If you would like to have fluoride treatments done, call our office and we can help in answering any questions and schedule an appointment for you.

"Every day I look forward to seeing a patient that has been reluctant to come to the dentist. It is very rewarding to be able to give that person the smile they deserve. I do this in hopes that they will share that smile with others."
